I think it is a round trip for many, I went from anti-apartheid marches and belonging to the leftist movements at uni to what would be considered right of Tony Blair in my 40s/50s back to wondering how all these idiots believed in Boris and Nigel Farage in my (very early) 70's. And from the Grauniad to the Times/Australian and back to the Grauniad/SMH.
look at the response i got from stating that i found the constant political asides in the cartoons took away from my enjoyment, and then read the responses, including yours with its condescending approach and request for evidence.
ask yourself this; who is getting upset? just leave it alone, i am obviously of a different opinion, you will survive it.
A snowflake is not "what you get called for expressing an opinion", by the way. It's a word used to describe a ridiculously thin-skinned person who gets outraged and offended by something to a disproportionate degree, whether that person be left-wing, right-wing or apolitical. Someone woke trying to get JK Rowling banned from publishing because she made a remark on Twitter is an example. So is a Telegraph columnist whining about comedians on the BBC being anti-British and hating Tories. So is Piers Morgan erupting in rage about vegan sausages. Religious fanatics having a meltdown about cartoons or artworks featuring figures from their religion is another example. Which brings us back to the subject at hand: what are the "obvious and unsubtly hammered in political barbs" of the past few weeks that have taken the jam out of your doughnut to the degree that you can't read a Squires cartoon any more?
Both Dyche and Allardyce have consistently kept clubs in the PL on very low budgets. Moyes and hodgson for instance, failed abysmally at Sunderland and Blackburn. Both Fulham and Sheffield United are almost certainly going down this season.
I think there is a degree of snobbery about British coaches. The negative and tedious football of managers like Mourinho and Benitez is seen as being cultured and sophisticated. Yet when UK managers do the same thing with much more limited resources, it is bronze age material.
totally with you. but goddammit i'd moved to hackney and i was going to give it the ol' college try.
turns out, not much you can't fix with a fuckton of limejuice, salt and chilli flakes. and an egg yolk or two. and a bloody mary. and then another bloody mary.
Wilder is not tactically flexible. He came/stumbled? upon an innovative attacking method that worked an absolute treat for a while (four seasons). Ever since lockdown it's been painful to watch the Blades trying to break down defenses that know exactly what's coming and simply overload against the overloads. He stubbornly sticks with this trick until we go a goal down, or until there are 15-20 min left and then he tries something that is equally ineffective. It'll be interesting to see if he manages to turn it around in the Championship next year. He's been slowly unraveling under the pressure this season and I think us bouncing back is far from a foregone conclusion.
Damn! If I was only younger, I'd know how to source that pic I found a few months ago of a young David Moyes when he looked exactly like Pennywise the Clown.
You should try that first line on the Daily Mail BTL. Wait until you get hundreds of likes or outraged 'This country...' comments, then deliver the excellent payoff line.
You'd have to do a proper self-cleanse afterwards, but worth a laugh.

comparing my barnet to Arteta's, he clearly has no idea what stress is.
Not upset at all, chum. Just curious as to what exactly you object to.

Didn’t you get the covid recently as well? Wish you’d have had the jab sooner!! Stay safe, your comments are always pretty good to read
He's not preaching. Saying something isn't preaching. Get a grip.

why assume i am right wing? i am not.

also, snowflake; is that what you get called for expressing an opinion that doesnt go along with yours?
nope, maybe late period NY a bit, but it doesn't stick in the throat.

Brilliant as usual. It shows my age when I only understand three of Woy's TLA's and two of them are sweary. And the youngun's used to be "Yoof" too.
And why no Stevie Bruce with his Brilliant Benitez Beard?
Not sure what you guys are on about, you are only coming through in waves.

The final panel is glorious. Chapeau, Sir, chapeau!
I really don't like avocado. It tastes like candle wax. This is probably why I'm not rich.

Oops. Wasn't trying to shake anyone's world view in these apocalyptic times. Let's just stick to the Mayan almanac, then.

You can say that again.
