The Chiefs will lift the AFC’s Lamar Hunt Trophy, named after their own founding father. Buffalo had a tremendous season, one that the team and their fans would have likely signed up for back in camp, no questions asked. They should be fun to watch for some time, but it remains to be seen how anyone can knock off KC, who are obviously the complete package with several extra gears to go to when called upon.
Maybe Brady has one more trick up his super-organic sleeve? We’ll find out in two weeks time.
We will have plenty of Super Bowl coverage in the coming days, but for now, this concludes our coverage of the AFC Championship.
Wherever you are, good morning, good afternoon and good night.
It’s all over. The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to their second consecutive Super Bowl. They will face the Tampa Bay Bucs in an old v new QB match-up, Mahomes and Brady, together, in the Sunshine State! Should be a lot of fun.
A team finally gets an onside kick, but it's somehow in a situation where even that won't make it competitive. That's the proper way to wind down this farce. @LengelDavid
Allen is backpedaling and backpedaling, so far that they blow the whistle after Tanoh Kpassagnon has him in his grasp. Then Allen tosses the ball at Okafor, who came in late, and there’s a little scuffle and a few flags.
It’s about a 25-yard sack, which is crazy. They’re trying to figure out who these penalties are on and for what.
McKenzie has a TD catch over the middle and the Bills are going for two. It’s picked off! So it’s still a three score game, and in case you weren’t convinced this game was over earlier - well, you are now.
Allen runs out of bounds for a loss setting up a 3rd and 13. Amazing throw across Allen’s body after a scramble is complete to Diggs, plus a 15-yard personal foul by Okafor. Now they’re on the 12.
Fisher, a fist round pick by the Chiefs is out with an Achilles in the offensive lineman position. Big blow.
Mahomes is over 300 yards now, and now he has some more - Hill has it inside the 20 after a catch on the far sideline. A much better game for Mahomes than he had in Buffalo in week six.
Now Williams runs to the far sideline for 11 more. First and goal.
I know I should be focusing more on the game, but I'm just stunned that there's a CBS show just called "FBI." What a complete lack of effort on their part. @LengelDavid
Allen passes and it’s off the fingertips of Brown, and into the hands of Fenton - who just came into the game after Sneed got hurt! That interrupts what was a promising drive for the Bills and could be the nail in the Buffalo coffin.
Chiefs start at the 25 - Mahomes scrambles and shoved out of bounds a touch late. No flag though.
Now Mahomes has Hill over the middle - and HE’S OFF! The slant takes him all the way across the field and he’s finally down at the four after a 71-yard gain! That’s a lot.
And this is why Buffalo needs more than field goals.
