Currently? Yes, obviously.
Playing central defender for Liverpool is the most exposed position in the league. Two players stand 30 yards in front of the keeper with only one holding midfielder in front of them. The full backs are 50 yards up the field being wingers. Week after week, Klopp throws into this situation two players who have never played together before, and expects them to succeed. Anyone else would by now have played 4-2-3-1 or some kind of 3-at-the-back. But not Klopp.
Max wants the manager, Hasenhüttl, who lost his 8th straight game and has lost two games 9-1 in charge. Also a manager we never hear needing to be sacked on the pod.
I'm sure we got 3 points, which is usually because the team that scored more than their opponents... that being us. I'm sure that makes us the better team. Then again, you didn't have VVD, the one man team.... lol
Did Barry try to barter for Max's wife?
Yeah that is the thing, other managers seem to get allowance.
But it is more than that. It is the branding of the Mourinho mistake. Don't get it. The prospect of him getting another job genuinely seems to shock them. Spurs will literally be the first place he has not won a trophy with. And even then they still have a very good chance of getting one. Why would another club not look at his treble, doubles, European victories and get him in?
But I think they got a good coach. Whether long term it works (ie; win any trophy) will honestly be about his Number 2.
Having them holding a dance party in the dressing room after a mid season hard fought 3 points is not the stuff of leadership. (I bet Ancelotti raised an eyebrow to it while Big Dunc would have been in the middle of it). (The fans can obviously celebrate to their heart's content - no problem with that in the slightest, I would).
The dance party thing though (like Kloppy's team 'wave' after the West Brom game or running on pitch after Origi goal) embarrassing really - imagine how many times that will now go around after the next significant defeat.
I liked it when Bob Paisley sat in the stands and let the best team do the work.
We've always been the best team..... oh dear! You weren't even the best team on Sunday!
think people are playing the man not the ball with regards to Mourinho this particular season....they players look knackered and not as sharp. That's not an excuse, just a fact.
Klopp finished like 8th the first season he took over, then a couple 4th. In a normal season with normal transfer funds and normal opportunities to coach.
Then Pep finished 3rd his 1st season and has poured how many 100's of millions of €'s into the teams. So he can bring in John Stones this season like a new signing.
I get people hate Mourinho and want to dance on his grave so they can say 'Told you so' but to not think that the circumstances surrounding this particular season might have a part to play seems ignorant to me
A question was posed, which players have Mourinho made better, Tanganga? Of course him coming through misses the Mourinho is rubbish with youth narrative.
The other complaint was Jose can't improve the defensive players meaning he wants better players (although most of the pod said of course he should be sacked for not being able to coach). The defence has mostly been players there from pre Mourinho. Dier is having to play centre back currently. And the players he has been able to get is the great Matt Doherty and Joe Rodon. To be fair they did get Sergio Reguilón for half the price of Wan Bisaka. He has not been able to get his own players there, 3 of the starting 4 were there before. And despite what we are told, Spurs were 14th when Jose took over.
My main issue still though is how sneery they are about one of the most successful managers of all time. One currently in a cup final which would see him as the man to win the league cup the most times, no longer joint winner, despite also having won league titles in 3 other countries ie not always managing in England. How did he get this clown status? It started with united but there he won 3 trophies and was runner up in the league at a club who had been poor since Fergie left. How did he become this joke figure?
Absolutely agree. There was a week where Spurs had 4 games. And there is the nonsense about the Mourinho mistake as well. When did this become a thing? What will make or break Spurs season is the next 4 games. Winnable games, a game in hand, and then the derby. Saying that, if Spurs lose to Arsenal prepare for an hour long pod dancing delightedly on Mourinho's grave.
Yeah I find it really strange that no one expects absolutely anything from Arteta. I spent quite a time defending Wenger's record as not being that bad. And he was laughed at for the "4th place trophy" and then for only winning the FA cup. And that was when there was little money being spent on the team and had to watch Fabregas and Van Persie leave. Arteta now has money to spend, lots of it. And yet 10th after 8th last year seems to be fine. I genuinely don't get it. He has allowances few managers have been allowed.
If that's how you see it. I see it as more.
And ideas are what they will always be..sitting in an architect's protective tube..
Oh there will be a dvd,and you will sell it at £22 ,or whatever the corresponding number of years since the 'best' team last won at Anfield.
I agree with lilpabl0. I don’t think it has much to do with Arsenal FC. On the contrary, I recall that Arsenal was the club that was perpetually ‘in crisis.’ Wenger was hounded out, despite being remarkably consistent. When Emery took over, Arsenal, admittedly, got to the Europa League final, but the fans/media felt that Arsenal should be doing better.
Now, though, as sirmorbach pointed out, it seems that Arteta is not even under pressure to finish in the top 6 (let alone champions league). And I’m not sure why, tbh. Clearly, Arsenal are not strong enough to compete with, say, Man City. Nevertheless, with Leicester & West Ham doing remarkably well, you would think that Arsenal could do the same.
Also, I actually agreed with Barry at the start of the season that Arsenal would profit from no fans in the stadium. And yet... they seem to be transforming into a mid-table side. They do, admittedly, have some precocious talent. However, I don’t see them getting back into the top 4 anytime soon. I think they’re now on the same level as, say, Everton or Wolves.
How many times can Ronay change his mind on Mourinho?
Hopefully Barry shows Max how to pronounce "Padraig " correctly, some time soon.
It's not Pad - Rig, it's Paw - Drig.
For around a year to 18 months Liverpool were perhaps the best team in the world. But that team compromised of about 14 players so that is where we are in seeing the fallout. They simply don’t have a squad to sustain the bar they set.
The injuries could be down to plain bad luck but more likely it was an inevitability.
Is Barney Ronay OK? Does he like football, or anything? He just sounds so,I don't know, miserable.
When Max said "Listen. I don't know why I need to tell you that..." I did a little noise because that is my NUMBER 1 PROBLEM WITH PUNDITS ON TV!! (Keown and Jenas, looking at you)
Of course I'm listening, you're the only person speaking!
Best get a move on with that then eh?
That rash and reckless challenge derailed our entire season so, no, we won't just get over it.
Your entire season was derailed because one player got injured? Seriously? You can't win without the big professional fouler in your ranks? You must be a shit team.
Honestly, try thinking about what you are saying.
We have. In the past. As have you. In the more recent past. But still the past. The question addresses the here and now. Mind you, it's still meaningless.
St Virgil must be spinning in his grave at the atrocity inflicted upon at least 10% of the city and 90% of Norway, get a grip. Wheeling out his rotting corpse and propping it up in the stands was even for shower a quite low trick. You’ve lost a few games, get over it.
Tranmere doing well, then?
More worrying news about Rwanda today. Arsenal need to review their sponsorship.
Ba dum dum tish btw...
but its not for being arsenal as the op pointed out, its for being arteta! its probably cos theyve got their head so far up pep's arse by proxy arteta must be good!
They finished 5th the season before he took over and steered them to 8th. And he has spent £81m since being in.
On a net spend vibe over last ten years, Tottenham only just make it into the top 15 when it comes to the most spent after sales with their balance at £135.83million. £25million less than Championship Stoke City (£16.6million) and more than £50million less than Brighton (£187.35million) in ninth. Manchester City spent £867.28million across the last 10 years, while Manchester United's balance is at £814.75million. The rest of the top five is made up of Chelsea (410.31million, Arsenal (£380.25million) and Liverpool (£335.58million).
But weirdly Arteta is doing a good job in a difficult time. Mourinho is a clown who moans about not having enough money. One got Højbjerg, the other got Partey.
Has the question been asked in December when top of the league what would have been said?
"...but despise them on every level..."
Mate, you do realise it's just a game?
This is their year/ message board
What if Liverpool win the Champions League? Not very likely admittedly.
